中国视野 – 六代的中国电影
《中国视野》是一通过展示6个不同的电影制作时期来体现中国电影发展的活动项目。自早期的传统武侠电影开始,历经各阶段,直到今天的独立电影制作,该项目将全程使用双语介绍,观众通过观看精选的代表影片和珍稀的档案资料来了解中国电影发展的重要转折点。在业内多位知名专家以及北京电影协会的大力支持下,“中国视野”设立专题讲座将为大家详细介绍,届时,各位电影爱好者们有机会同专家一起热烈讨论。

第一讲:中国电影的初始与武侠片《荒江女侠》

主讲嘉宾: 陈山教授,北京电影学院。
主题&电影: 武侠片是中国独创的最主要的类型片种之一,并产生着全球的影响。讲座不但让大家欣赏到中国最早的古装片、武侠片的珍贵镜头,而且还可以领略中国电影诞生地——租界上海的早期文化的影像风采。通过对于中国电影如何开始的讲解,使大家体会中国最初的电影是怎样一步步走向武侠电影的,从而对中国民间的文化精神有着具体而深刻的体验
第二讲:《春闺断梦》与中国早期的电影实验

主讲嘉宾: 陈山教授,北京电影学院。
主题&电影: 《春闺断梦》是近几年发现的中国最为前卫的实验电影,而它却早已拍摄于1937年。大家不但可以观赏到这部难以见到的电影的全貌,而且还可以通过对于“文革”前中国电影艺术实验的系统介绍,继续欣赏多部中国早期实验性影片如《小城之春》、《枯木逢春》、《农奴》的影像和分析,以了解中国实验电影的来龙去脉。
第三讲:文化大革命时期,英雄/模范电影和抗战戏剧

Chen Shan is a teacher at the Beijing Film Academy the author of three books on Chinese film theory. He is a regular jury member for film festivals in Asia and Europe.

Zhou Xia周 夏
A researcher at the China Film Archives, Dr Zhou Xia is part of a team of professionals who review, list and critique the entire Chinese cinematographic production, leaving a record available to all at CFA’s Library.

Yang Zi扬子
A graduate of the Beijing Film Academy, Yang Zi is a film critic who has been involved in Chinese independent productions and festivals for over 15 years. He is the author of a book and a regular collaborator of CNEX. 电影评论家,多次受邀参加中国各项电影节和独立电影项目活动,已出版专题图书,CNEX的合伙人之一.
Zhang Ya Xuan张亚璇
A prominent expert on Chinese independent movies and herself a producer, writer and curator, Zhang Yaxuan is director of the China Independent Film Archives at Iberia Center in 798, actively promoting work by independent film makers and Art House Cinema. 中国独立电影杰出专家,电影制片人,作家,编剧,伊比利亚艺术中心中国独立电像资料部总监, 活跃的独立电影制作人和艺术电影工作者

A retrospective on 6 Generations of film making
Visions of China is a six part series showcasing the development of Chinese cinema across six generations of filmmaking. Beginning with the early ‘Wuxia’ traditions and running the full gamut to the independent cinema being produced today, the bilingual series will guide viewers through China ’s cinematic milestones via rare movie clips and hard-to-find archive material. Helped along the way by experts and enthusiasts from Beijing ’s film community, the series is the perfect primer for anyone interested in Chinese film, and in opportunities to discuss it.

Session 1: The Beginnings, Wuxia and Chinese Lore.
Sunday 8th November – 3pm
Session Host: Chen Shan Laoshi, professor at the Beijing Film Academy .
Period & Theme: The beginnings of Chinese cinema in the Shanghai concessions.
The origins of the “Wuxia” cinema will be explored through costumes and folk tales in the earliest Chinese productions. Chen Shan Laoshi will give a lecture interspersed with excerpts from period movies until 1930’s, including some early Wuxia features such as “Lady of Steel”.
Session 2: Early Feature Films, Experimental and Avant-Garde Movements.
Sunday 15th November – 3pm
Session Host: Chen Shan Laoshi.
Period & Theme: Early feature films, experimental cinema and avant-garde movement starting in the mid ‘1930s going until the Cultural Revolution. As for session one, the lecture will include a number of clips from silent movies (“Spring in a Small Town”, “ ”), and a full piece (short): “A Lady’s Fantasia”, Fei Mou (1937).
Session 3: Cultural Revolution Generations: Propaganda Films and the Scar Drama
Sunday 22rd November – 3pm
Session Host: Dr Zhou Xia, researcher at the China Film Archives
Period & Theme: Cultural Revolution feature films and the scar drama in the early eighties, with clips and excerpts of period works
Session 4: The Rise of a Freed Youth and the Return to Cinematographic Tradition

Period & Theme: The fifth generation of filmmakers, and the revival of Chinese cinema through the themes of humanism and cultural reflection.
Session 5: Existential Questions and the Birth of Independent Cinema.
Sunday 6th December – 3pm
Session Host: Yang Zi, writer, critic and chief editor of Quacor.
Period & Theme: The nineties: the birth of Independent cinema in China . Yang Zi will comment on the efforts made by the first independent film makers to set up their own productions. This will be followed by a full length feature film: Mr Zhao (赵先生), by Lu Yue, and discussion afterwards.
Session 6: Search for Truths and Underground Cinema
Sunday 13th December – 3pm
Session Host: Zhang Ya Xuan, director of the China Independent Film Archives (CIFA).
Period & Theme: The early ’2000s: From underground to marginality. An introduction to the latest evolutions on the indie scene will be followed by a screening session and open discussion.
Added Screening (eve): Experimental Movies in 2009: a screening of short films with comments by Sandy Ding and Jiang Xuan, from the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA).
Speakers:
Chen Shan
Chen Shan has taught in Paris , Taiwan , and at the Beijing Film Academy for the last ten years, while taking part in a number of festivals and film projects as a jury member, writer, and researcher. He is the author of three books on Chinese film theory, Cultural Theory and the History of Martial Arts in China .
Zhou Xia
A researcher and expert at the China Film Archives, Dr Zhou Xia is part of a team that records, analyses and critiques the entire Chinese Film Production.
Yang Zi
A graduate of the Beijing Film Academy , Yang Zi is a film critic and independent writer. He has written for specialized magazines such as “Modern Art” and “Oriental Morning Post” while taking part in developing independent cinema in China through festivals and various productions. He is a regular collaborator of CNEX and a chief editor at Quacor.com, an independent film web-portal.
